DOG BACKPACKS

Puppy Harnesses
Sold in sets of three to allow you to move your puppy into larger harnesses as it grows. With puppies, everything is play. The harness has no padding because they aren’t pulling anything heavy. Its only purpose is to get them comfortable with wearing one and to cultivate a happy positive attitude. They run around the yard doing whatever puppies do for about fifteen minutes a day. That’s enough to get them used to the feel of a harness on their backs, and they usually are acclimated after two or three outings.
Next attach a short rope to the back tie on the harness and tie a small block of wood to it. At first they’ll just sit, not knowing what to do but being puppies, they won't sit long! Before you know it, they’re running around with the wood bouncing on the ground behind them. Three harnesses in different sizes - Choice of colors - Not padded.

SKIJORING EQUIPMENT

Skijoring is basically cross county skiing while being attached to your dog's skijoring harness. Your dog or team of dogs (1-3) assist you in moving down the trail by pulling you from a waist belt while you ski along behind, attached to a shock cord tow line.

Hip Belt w/Fanny Pack ( by Free Spirit Outfitter)
Designed and perfected by competitive champions! Recreate in comfort and control with our Hip Belt. Offering a 3" wide band of lightweight polypropylene webbing encased with a generous layer of foam padding covered with plush polar fleece. Around the outside is 1.5" nylon webbing that extends 15" from both sides of the belt in front of the body with 2" D-rings at the end to fasten a panic snap for quick release and tow line. Two fully adjustable 3/4" nylon straps are attached around the legs to hold the belt firmly on the hips to prevent the belt from moving upward during exercise. Remember to measure your hips, not your waist!

Shock Cord Tow Line (by Free Spirit Outfitter)

This is a unique tow line specially made for skijoring or roller blading. Made of 3/8" polypropylene rope, it measures 60" in length and contains a shock cord sewn in the middle to absorb sudden tension while exercising or competing. It has woven loops at either end and includes a durable panic snap for quick release.
Single Lead Tug (by Free Spirit Outfitter)
48" Single Lead Tug has a brass snap at one end, a woven loop at the other and consists of 1/4 polypropylene rope. Attach this Tug to the Shock Cord and to your dog's harness with the brass snap.
10" Double Lead Neck Ties (by Free Spirit Outfitter)
10" Double Lead Neck Ties consist of 3/16" polypropylene rope with brass snaps at both ends. These are used between two dogs running side by side and are attached to their collars.

Toys - The Hammer Head
The new Hammer Head Stuffed Wear toy moves like a butterfly and stings like a bee. You'll know why we call it the Hammer Head after a few good shakes. The elongated bone shape has weighted ends that swing around when dogs grasp and shake that thing. This interaction entices pups into a game of shake, rattle and roll. The Hammer Head is built with our durable 1680-denier ballistic nylon to stand up to the abuse. Keeping true to our efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle, we use our cutting room cloth scraps to stuff this interactive toy.

Toys - The Lunker The Lunker is Ruff Wear's answer to all those bumpers out there. You've seen them - fluorescent orange plastic cylinders or white cotton duck cloth dummies that just don't stand the test of time or the neighbor's Labrador. The Lunker is constructed of brightly colored 1680-denier ballistic nylon so it is downright durable, easy to see and easy to clean. The Lunker is packed with a combination of cutting room fabric and K9 Float Coat^TM foam scraps, giving us just one more opportunity to reduce, reuse and recycle. This packing creates the perfect balance of weight for long tosses and flotation when it ends up in the water. An 18" kernmantle rope lanyard provides the leverage needed for extended throwing distances.

Toys - The Zoing!
Tie one end to a tree limb, stout beam or rafter tail and leave the rest to the dogs. The Zoing is a stretchy tubular webbing assembly that provides tugging resistance with our Lunker attached to one end.
